Homer Laughlin’s New Fiesta® Color: Mulberry

Rich purple hue is milestone 50th color

Newell, WV—Enter Mulberry: the 50th Fiesta® color introduced in the iconic dinnerware line’s 80-year history. It’s a rich, jewel-tone shade of purple with a red cast.

The Homer Laughlin China Company, manufacturer of the colorful and iconic Made in America Fiesta® dinnerware, announced Mulberry at The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market® earlier this month, and in so doing once again spun the color wheel of history. Fiesta has been an unprecedented hit since its introduction in 1936.

“Fiesta’s Mulberry is a flavorful, robust, and full-bodied shade, tempting to the eye and taste buds,” said color expert Leatrice Eiseman, author of “The Complete Color Harmony, Pantone edition.” “It’s a great pick-me-up next to neutrals and a terrific companion to so many other colors on the tabletop, including vineyard greens, honeyed yellows, and chocolate browns.”

“Mulberry complements every shade in the Fiesta color palette,” said Rich Brinkman, VP Sales & Marketing at Homer Laughlin. “It was important for us to add purple to our lineup. Mulberry is very on-trend with what we’ve been seeing in fashion and home decor recently. It offers a lot of versatility.”

Mulberry will be available beginning in late summer. Standard dinnerware pieces will be available, including a variety of plates, platters, bowls, mugs, the signature disk pitcher, and serving pieces. The full line of Fiesta can be found on the company’s website at www.hlcdinnerware.com.

Chefs are sure to be inspired by the color-contrasting plating options opened up by this dramatic, saturated hue that fits well into themes as diverse as nature, nautical, mid-century modern, industrial, and more. The versatile Fiesta collection can be easily mixed and matched to make your presentation — and your food — pop. What color combinations would you suggest for our classy new Mulberry? With the announcement of Mulberry comes word that two Fiesta colors, Tangerine and Claret, are retiring. However, select foodservice items will remain in Tangerine.
