Homer Laughlin China Company products for generations

Newell, W.V. —Homer Laughlin China Company is pleased to be showcased in a video series produced by Maxwell House coffee. Entitled “Made Right Here,” the video series documents some of America’s hardest-working and finest craftspeople. Homer Laughlin, makers of the popular FIESTA® consumer dinnerware line along with their extensive foodservice collections, was the focus of episode 10. “We are so proud and excited to invite the world in through the cameras and see our company’s heritage and legacy in action,” said Elizabeth McIlvain, president of HLC Inc. “This is an opportunity to share with the public the generations of warmth, care and precision craftsmanship embodied by every Homer Laughlin employee.”

The episode depicts the series’ hosts, Max Wastler and Joe Gannon, at the Homer Laughlin headquarters in Newell. They spend the day in a truly hands-on fashion, talking with longtime employees and participating in every step of the dinnerware-making process, from filling molds with wet clay to attempting “hand lining” to applying a design by hand to the top of a cup before it goes to the kiln for firing. The process allows consumers to see what goes into producing Homer Laughlin’s top-quality dinnerware.

“You’ve sat down to dinner with us for the last 143 years. You’re just not aware that we were the ones who have been setting the table for you,” said Dan Williams, marketing manager for Homer Laughlin. “We were thrilled to be a part of this great series, which showcases companies and dedicated workers who help make our country great.”

Throughout the video, employees at work in the factory discuss the longevity of their employment or how their father or grandfather worked for the same company they do. It’s not only heartwarming, but also shows the true spirit of the American worker, generation after generation.
“The hardworking people at our family-owned business contribute to the richness and tradition of other families coming together to share meals and memories,” said McIlvain.
